A "normal day" at Yana Cocha
We´re waking up at 07.30 to have a breakfast at 08.00. The breakfast is usually a sandwish and some cereal. After that we have the morning feeding rounds, which means that we cut up fruit to feed all the animals with. the most common animal food is banana, papaya, watermelon and some other fruit that we don´t know the name of.
The morning round takes about 2 hours, we feed the animals and clean their cadges.
Lunch is served at 1 and consists from soup and usually a plate with rice, veggies and some kind of meat, ecuadorian style.
if we don´t have any other tasks after lunch (such as maintaining paths or other areas of the center) we are free until 4 when we feed the animals again.
After that we usually go in to Puyo, the nearest town, or just chill out with the other volonteers.
This weekend we went to Baños wich is a bigger town nearby. the first night we went to some hot springs by a waterfall for a nice dip. we really enjoyed that since warm water is a luxury...
we had some italian for dinner and then went straight to bed since we both have a cold.
the next day though we rented mountain bikes and went up the mountains for a few hours befoe we went back to the centre.
More updates soon.
